Termite Damage

Pest Assured are noticing that each year, cases of termite damage are occurring more frequently. As a result this is a worrying trend as termites are able to cause a significant amount of damage to homes and businesses. Homeowners are spending thousands upon thousands of dollars to treat termite damage after the fact. Thus, it is critical that termite infestations receive treatment at the earliest sign of an infestation. Prevention measures are recommended to be implemented to further protect your property from termite damage.

Signs of Termites

There are a number of signs of termite damage that each and every home and business owner can keep an eye out for to help determine that an infestation may be present:

  • A hollow sound in timber: Termites will eat from the inside out. As a result, when knocking on your timber you may notice a hollow sound if termites have eaten away the inside.
  • Weak areas on timber: Due to termites eating away at the structural integrity of timber, a sudden knock or bump can cause damage. Some of the most common areas that this may occur are skirting boards and door frames.
  • Hard to close doors or windows: Termites will leave behind excrement as they are eating through timber. This excrement, commonly referred to as ‘mud’ acts as a protective environment trapping heat and moisture inside. This will generally cause the timber to swell resulting in hard to close doors and windows.

These are just a number of signs of termite damage, and key indicators that a termite infestation may be present. If you have any one of these, call Pest Assured to organise an inspection.
